Study III (Phoenix) is a machine drawing in ink on fine-grain paper. This work was originally drawn by hand whilst composing a 4:36 min audio track (available to listen to here: ). The hand-drawn work was then digitized so it could be physically drawn multiple times by a pen plotter. Playing between the physical and digital, machine and human-made, is a consistent theme in Helena's work.
When this work is purchased you will also be provided access to the full version of the audio track which was a collaboration between Helena and techno producer Koichi in 2018.
This drawing is part of a series of machine drawings through which the artist is exploring minimal structure and form, first composing the work physically before digitizing it so that the pen plotter can 'read' the original drawing and copy it multiple times. Though this work is part of an edition, each machine drawing is unique and has the potential for marginal variation.

Dimensions: A3 / 297 x 420 mm
This print is sold unframed, packaged in tissue and rolled in a cardboard postal tube.
